WELCOME TO air!
THIS final ELEMENT OF our COLLECTION creates a CHANCE TO showcase the versatility of OUR MATERIALS IN A WAY THAT explores the fluidity and density of air within its envrionment.
INSPIRED BY THE delicate fragility of smoke clouds - WE WANTED TO play around the idea of fluid solidity and how we could CREATE A SENSE of movement and softness using such rigid and structured materials.
THE MAIN PIECE of the air SECTION IS ‘ethereal haze’ A 16” X 16” ARTWORK MOUNTED ONTO (AS WITH ALL OUR PIECES) A HANDCRAFTED WOODEN CANVAS, MADE INHOUSE FROM RECLAIMED, OTHERWISE TO BE SKIPPED TIMBER.
THE TEXTURES THROUGHOUT ARE CREATED using layers and layers of thinner plastic waste items, built up in a way that enabled us to form smooth edges and really craft those delicate shapes vital to this idea.
THE MATERIALS INCLUDE plastic bags, tissue paper, plastic food containers of various thickness - once layered together, all FINISHED WITH ACRYLIC PAINT to help suggest the ever changing tones and fleeting light of this fragile element.
