lids studio is all about the unexpected.
we’re here to bring out the quirks, invite the curiosity and celebrate the unconventional.
we feel we don't always need to be using 'new' things and boxfresh products to create beautiful art.
every piece from lids studio is handcrafted from otherwise unwanted wasted materials; ranging anywhere from household single use plastic waste, bottle tops, recycled paper & cardboards to reclaimed timber, commercial plastic packagings, discarded second hand items- the list really is endless; if you don’t want it, no doubt lids does!
with a touch of lids love, these objects are then manipulated and repurposed in our studio through a variety of creative techniques; until they are ready to be rehomed as a reinvigorated rendition of their previous selves.
at lids studio, we specifically gravitate towards this use of plastic waste/discarded single use items in the hope of being able to provide them with a new lease of life, rather than a trip to landfill.
we love the idea of our pieces transforming these otherwise unwanted objects into completely unrecognisable, now desirable treasures that people would actually want to display on their walls!
specialising in crafting texturally luxe work, we describe our unique style as ‘texture artistry’. creating an energy within each piece that excites the senses and summons an irresistible urge to touch!
we want people to get involved - get hands on and stuck in, enjoying their quirky pieces whilst trying to decipher the different origins of each texture and from what materials have they been crafted?
we want to reinvent recycled art and bring a new luxurious feel with the way we repurpose our materials. enhancing the idea and utmost core value behind lids studio; that beauty really can be found anywhere, even in the most unexpected of places.

our mission
at lids studio, we believe that creativity has no limits.
that art does not have to always be ‘new’ and that there are limitless possibilities from the things we would so easily consider unwanted as we throw them away daily.
we want to inspire people to look again; to take a moment, step back and think differently.
to get excited at seeing things for what they could be rather than perhaps as what they present themselves currently.
to explore a luxurious world of unique second chances.

meet the lyds behind lids studio
hi, i’m lyds-
-however my dad would always spell it ‘lids’ - (fitting for a girl who would grow up to love playing with plastic ones!)
i’m currently 26 and have always been a creative sort. trying quirky new ideas and messing around with anything i could get my hands on really. I’ve always loved finding ways to play with old unwanted things and make them beautiful again.
as i moved to university to study costume design & making, my curiosity only grew stronger, which by the end of the 3 year course would lead me to achieve a 1st in my works.
my textures and embellishments would always incorporate weird and wonderful things i’d found or stashed away instead of binning - much to the delight of my tutors i’m sure.

i’ve since continued to experiment and refine my style, textures & love for unconventional materials to the point they are today and that leads me to where you are now: lids studio.
a place where i hope to showcase my pieces, the celebration of second chances and just how beauty really can be found anywhere, truely in the most unexpected of places.
these pieces are my absolute loves and creating them has been a dream come true! i hope exploring the world of lids.studio brings you as much joy , intrigue and inspiration as it does me.
